Makah Housing Authority in Neah Bay, WA will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Innovative grant in the amount of $150,000. The applicant proposes to use their Capacity Building award to enhance the organization’s departmental and programming community and economic infrastructure. They will hire personnel and train staff on the proper methodology on record retention and developing of a functioning filing system to facilitate retrieval for auditing purposes. Further, they are developing a system to maintain an inventory of housing stock that would meet the needs of their tribe. Partners with tribe will be Affiliated Tribes of the Northwest’s, Economic Development Corporation and Common Ground Low Income Housing Solution. Proposed leveraging in the amount of $95,280.

Snoqualmie Indian Tribe in Carnation, WA will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Capacity Building grant in the amount of $140,000. The applicant proposes to use their Capacity Building award to hire a Housing Counselor to expand homeownership opportunities for the Snoqualmie people. The grant will also provide first time homebuyer education and counseling services. Partnering this grantee will be the Service Corps of Retired Executives Association. Proposed leveraging amounts to $70,795.

Washington State Housing Finance Commission in Seattle, WA in will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Innovative grant in the amount of $387,872. The applicant proposes to use their Innovative award to provide a comprehensive homebuyer education and housing counseling program in rural parts of Washington State. This program will increase the number of first time homebuyer education classes and create new homeowners and keep more families in their homes in order to enhance the economic stability of rural Washington State. Proposed leveraging for this venture is $563,934.
