Little Dixie Community Action Agency, Inc. in Hugo, OK will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development innovative grant in the amount of $386,207. The applicant proposes to use their innovative award to hire an economic developer to recruit new industry to the area. The premise is to work with the three community development specialists to prepare communities and organizations in southeast Oklahoma for affordable housing and economic development programs. They will be providing one on one assistance and group training for these organizations to develop skills and to implement programs. Some of the organizations and businesses supporting the applicant are the Chamber of Commerce for the Nelsonville area and Hocking College. Proposed leveraging in the amount of $200,000 is being provided.
