Adams Brown Counties Economic Opportunities, Inc. in Georgetown, OH will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Capacity Building grant in the amount of $140,572. The applicant proposes to use their award to build capacity within their organization. They will purchase a new computer and software and train in-house staff. The applicant is also involved in providing affordable housing to low and moderate income residents in their service area. Proposed leveraging of $83,423 is contributed to this project.

Appalachian Center for Economic Networks in Athens, OH will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Innovative grant in the amount of $306,964. The applicant proposes to use their innovative award to provide Business Education and to develop a Training program to promote entrepreneurial opportunities. This entrepreneurial business incubation program will increase area incomes and enable residents to improve their living conditions. Various organizations and businesses are supportive of the applicant such as the Chamber of Commerce for the Nelsonville area and Hocking College. Proposed leveraging for the project is listed for $200,000.

Portage Area Development Corporation in Ravenna, OH will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Innovative grant in the amount of $400,000. The applicant proposes to use their Innovative award to provide homeownership loans to rural low income families, including extremely low income and minorities in the counties of Ashtabula, Lake, Geauga, Portage, Trumbull, Mahoning, Wayne, Stark, Columbiana, Carroll, Tuscarawas, Harrison, Jefferson, Guemsery, and Belmont. These revolving loan funds will assist in providing first and second mortgages to promote decent affordable housing and provide long-term sustainability. A major supporter of this project is the United States Department of Agriculture. Proposed leveraging is over a million dollars.
