Genesis Fund in Darariscotta, ME will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Capacity Building grant in the amount of $39,000. This grant will be used to pay for personnel, travel and supplies for the organization. Proposed cash and in-kind leveraging resources total approximately $145,392. Partners and supporters for this venture include Ashland Care Givers Association, Eastern Maine Development Corporation, Maine Technical Assistance Consortium, Maine State Housing Authority, Monhegan Island Sustainable Community Association, the USDA and Vinalhaven Eldercare Services, Inc. The target group for this project is Federally Recognized Indian Tribes and areas with a population of 2,500 or less.

Sunrise County Economic Development Council in Machias, ME will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Capacity Building grant in the amount of $150,000. This grant will be used to solidify the organization’s position as a vital business development resources, diversify the funding base, strengthen partnerships and develop new skills in affordable housing improvement. Proposed cash and in-kind leveraging resources total approximately $80,000. Partners and supporters for this venture include Coastal Enterprises, Inc., the Town of Harrington, Unity Foundation, Washington County Technical College, Washington Hancock Community Agency, Downeast Heritage Center and Maine Cooperative Extension. The target group for this project is areas with a population no greater than 2,500.

Four Directions Development Corporation in Penobscot, ME will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Innovative Housing and Economic Development grant in the amount of $400,000. This grant will be used to fund a loan fund for beneficiaries. Proposed cash and in-kind leveraging resources total approximately $225,000. Partners and supporters for this venture include Bangor Savings Bank. The target group for this project is Federally Recognized Indian Tribes and areas with a population of 2,500 or less.
