Georgia Legal Services Program, Inc. in Atlanta, GA will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Capacity Building grant in the amount of $150,000. This grant will be used to pay personnel, purchase supplies, etc. that will allow the organization to provide affordable housing for its beneficiaries. Proposed cash and in-kind leveraging resources total approximately $75,000. The target group for this project is an area with a population of 2,500 or less.

Area Committee to Improve Opportunities Now, Inc. in Athens, GA will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development grant in the amount of $61,275. This Capacity Building grant will be used to maintain staff, train existing staff and complete housing analysis. Proposed cash and in-kind leveraging resources total approximately $42,286. Partners and supporters for this venture include Morgan County Commissioners, Greene County Board of Commissioners and The Family Connection.

Crisp Area Habitat for Humanity in Cordele, GA will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Capacity Building grant in the amount of $150,000. This grant will be used to increase affordable housing production in the target area. Specific actions activities include starting fund for housing production hire one staff person maintaining and one staff person. Proposed cash and in-kind leveraging resources total approximately $100,000. Partners for this venture include the Southwest Georgia Empowerment Zone. This project will serve a target area of 2,500 or less.

Partnership Housing Affordable to Society Everywhere, Inc. in Bainbridge, GA will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Capacity Building grant in the amount of $150,000. This grant will be used to pay for personnel, and equipment for the organization. Proposed cash and in-kind leveraging resources total approximately $55,000. Partners for this venture include Royal American, Cooperative Resource Center, Decatur County Health Department, Telemon Corporation and Southwest Georgia Regional Development Corporation.

Housing Partners, Inc. in Albany, GA will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Capacity Building grant in the amount of $150,000. This grant will be used to hire consultants and clerical staff and pay for supplies for the organization. Proposed cash and in-kind leveraging resources total approximately $96,500. The target area for this project is an area with a population of 2,500 or less.

SW GA United Empowerment Zone in Vienna, GA will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Innovative Housing and Economic Development grant in the amount of $400,000. This will be used to expand the organizations homeownership program, construct three homes and locate financing for six additional homes. The organization will assist twelve businesses. Proposed cash and in-kind leveraging resources total approximately $200,000. Partners and supporters for this venture the USDA, Dooly County Board of Commissioners, Dooley County Economic Development, The Cordele-Crisp Industrial Development Council, Inc., the City of Cordele, the City of Vienna, the Housing Authority of Vienna, the Housing Authority of Cordele, Cordele- Crisp Chamber of Commerce, Dooly County Chamber of Commerce, and the Crisp Area Habitat for Humanity. The target group for this project is an area with less than 2,500 inhabitants.
