Walking Shield American Indian Society in Tustin, CA will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Innovative Housing and Economic Development grant in the amount of $400,000. This grant will be used to locate and redirect surplus military houses to underserved American Indian populations. Proposed cash and in-kind leveraging resources total approximately $912,000. Partners and supporters for this venture include the U.S. Air Force. The target group for this grant is a Federally Recognized Indian Tribe.

I-5 Social Services Corporation in Fresno, CA will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Innovative Housing and Economic Development grant in the amount $400,000. This grant will be used to acquire 40 acres of property for the development of the Don Alejandro Valdez Community Development Project. Proposed cash and in-kind leveraging resources total approximately $380,000. Partners for this venture include Britz, Inc.

Westside Housing and Economic Network, Inc. in Fresno, CA will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Innovative Housing and Economic Development grant in the amount of $400,000. This grant will be used to perform market analysis, needs assessment, and implementation plans, provide financial literacy for beneficiaries and development of a SIPS factory. Proposed cash and in-kind leveraging resources total approximately $810,000. Partners and supporters for this venture include Edwin R. Neill, Great Valley Center and the Westside Elementary School District. The target area for this project is areas with populations 2,500 or less.

Fresno West Coalition for Economic Development in Fresno, CA will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development grant in the amount of $150,000. This Capacity Building grant will be used to carry out needs assessment studies.

North Fork Community Development Council, Inc. in North Fork, CA will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Innovative Housing and Economic Development grant in the amount of $400,000. This grant will be used to fund the expansion of a wastewater treatment facility that will assist in the redevelopment of an abandoned lumber mill thereby creating jobs and business opportunities. The project also includes a low-income housing component for Native Americans. Proposed cash and inkind leveraging resources total approximately $2,110,045. Partners for this venture are USDA Rural Development, Yosemite/Sequoia Resource Conservation and Development Area, Madera County CDC, Resources Management Agency, DOE Rebuild America and others.

Tule River Economic Development Corporation in Porterville, CA will receive Rural Housing and Economic Development Innovative Housing and Economic Development grant in the amount of $400,000. This grant will be used to acquire the necessary property to establish a training center. Partners and supporters for this venture include Porterville College, Tule River Tribal Council, the City of Porterville and Eagle Mountain Casino. This project will serve a Federally Recognized Indian Tribe.
