The Arizona-Mexico Border Health Foundation in Tucson, AZ will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Capacity Building grant in the amount of $150,000. This grant will be used to hire additional staff and provide training for staff. Proposed cash and in-kind leveraging resources total approximately $10,200. Partners for this venture are Housing Assistance Council. The target population for this grant is the Colonias.

The Arizona Department of Housing in Phoenix, AZ will receive Rural Housing and Economic Development Innovative Housing and Economic Development grant in the amount of $400,000. This grant will be used to create affordable homeownership opportunities for low and moderate-income first time homebuyers, replace and rehab housing units using innovative designs and provide job training and opportunities for Colonias residents. Proposed cash and in-kind leveraging resources total approximately $200,000. Partners and supporters for this venture include the City of Casa Grande. The target group for this grant is the Colonias.

The Nogales Main Street Association in Nogales, AZ will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development in the amount of $389,927. This grant will be used to establish an entrepreneurial development center in a “Colonias” area of Arizona. Proposed cash and in-kind leveraging resources total approximately $224,330. Partners for this venture are the Board of Supervisors for Santa Cruz County, Aliens, Literacy Volunteers of America-Santa Cruz County, John M. Little, Santa Cruz County Workforce Development, Historic Nogales Main Street and Training And Consulting Solutions. The target group for this project will be in a Colonias.

International Sonoran Desert Alliance in Ajo, AZ will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development grant in the amount $400,000. This Innovative Housing and Economic Development grant will be used to restore and convert a 134,000 square foot school complex into housing and workspace for low-income artisans. Proposed cash and in-kind leveraging total approximately $51,250. Partners and supporters for this venture include Pima County Community Resources, Southwest Fair Housing Council, czbllc, The Enterprise Foundation, SBA and Associates, Nicholls Consulting, LTD, the Prince Georges County Government and the Towns of North Brentwood, Brentwood and Mount Rainer. The target area for this project is in a Colonias and will serve Federally Recognized Indian Tribe.

Partners for this venture include Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation Navajo Partnership for Housing Navajo Housing Authority and the First Nation’s Oweesta Corporation. This project will serve a Federally Recognized Indian Tribe.
