There are several different ways to leverage energy efficiency resources. Several regional energy efficiency non-profit alliances and partnerships promote the leveraging of resources and they include the following:
  • The Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships, Inc. (NEEP) is a nonprofit regional organization founded in 1996. Its mission is to steadily increase energy efficiency in homes, buildings and industry throughout the Northeast region of the United States. The NEEP promotes cost-effective regional initiatives that promise greater results than an assortment of sub-regional (state or service territory) efforts could produce. The initiatives promote selected products and practices to address energy end-use in the residential, commercial and industrial sectors. Organizations that accept NEEP invitations to participate form the various energy efficiency partnerships formed through NEEP.

  • The Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (MEEA) is a regional network of organizations collaborating to promote energy efficiency. MEEA's vision is to be a leader in raising and sustaining the level of energy efficiency in the Midwest region by fostering increased market penetration of existing energy-efficient technologies and promoting new technologies, products and best practices, including renewable energy. MEEA's goal is to provide a collective voice at a national and regional level; act as a clearinghouse to identify, evaluate and create successful programs and market assessments for the region; and foster communication on effective energy policy. Formed in 1999, MEEA's strategy is to develop innovative programs that achieve measurable and verifiable results.

  • The Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance is a non-profit group of electric utilities, state governments, public interest groups, and efficiency industry representatives. Under this partnership, these entities support regional programs that make affordable, energy efficient products and services available in the marketplace. There are a number of the Alliance projects that work to establish relationships with current market actors--manufacturers, retailers and service providers--to encourage them to increase the availability of their energy-saving product and service offerings. The Alliance also works to promote new energy-saving technologies in commercial and industrial systems. Several Alliance projects also support training and information services for energy efficiency in the region. These offerings provide Northwest electricity consumers access to energy efficiency expertise and training opportunities.
