Introduction
On
average, people spend about 90 percent of their time indoors. Sixty-five
percent of that is spent at home. The elderly and infirm may spend
all of their time indoors. The condition of a home has much to do
with the quality of life of the occupant. In building and caring
for homes in our communities, there are many options, among them
many different choices that can make the homes more energy efficient,
cost-effective, as well as healthier.
This
topic outlines several housing problems that have been linked to
energy efficiency. These problems can be avoided when energy efficient
measures are properly installed.
