Problem: Inadequate Comfort

The common problem of inadequate comfort can be broken down into the following two categories:

  1. Drafts
Drafts disrupt the flow of heat throughout a home. Eliminating or reducing paths of uncontrolled air leakage can greatly improve the energy efficiency of homes. There are several options for reducing air leaks around windows and throughout homes.

  2. Rooms Too Hot or Cold
Whether rooms are too hot or too cold, temperature comfort can be a significant energy-related housing problem for households. There are several options for stabilizing room temperature including improving the:

    • Insulation, air and vapor barriers,
    • Window shading, and
    • HVAC air distribution systems, and conservation landscaping.
