Hazard Mitigation Resources
This website includes how-to guides that explain mitigation planning, suggestions for preparing multi-jurisdictional hazard mitigation plans, and how to use mitigation plans to prepare successful mitigation projects. Hazard Mitigation Plans form the foundation for a community’s long-term strategy to reduce disaster losses and break the cycle of disaster damage, reconstruction, and repeated damage. State, local, and Indian Tribal governments are required to develop Hazard Mitigation Plans as a condition of receiving certain types of non-emergency disaster assistance.
