Summary of ConPlan Improvement Initiative Consortia Working Group Conference Calls

Conference Call Summary Notes
Thursday, August 15th 3:30 PM EST

Participants:
Co-Chairs: Robert Goulka (HUD - OAHP), Tom Laurin (San Bernardino Co., CA)
Members: Scott Cleveland (HUD - Boston Field Office), Ed Gramlich (Center for Community Change), Doug Payne and David (San Bernardino Co., CA).
Aspen/ComCon: Grace Morris

The Q's that will make up the Q and A being prepared by HUD HQ were reviewed. It was agreed that the format should be changed to group similar items together.

In terms of Performance Measurement, grantees suggest that HUD do a better job with all of the information already being supplied rather than asking for yet more information.

In terms of Pilots, it was stated that HUD FO staff have access to information which will help in the area of pilots. So it was recommended that FO staff be solicited for their input. It was pointed out that this was raised at the recent Steering Committee meeting on August 13.

It was suggested that HUD Field Office staff also have access to ConPlan submissions and probably can judge what components work the best. It was suggested that HUD ask communities to submit things they are most proud of so that these can be shared with other grantees.

Samples of Executive Summaries from Columbus and Summit County, Ohio will be shared with the group along with some other items discussed on the call pertaining to ConPlan issues such as Madison, WI's website (mailing was sent on 8/22).

It was agreed that time would be extended to allow members to comment on both the Q and A document being developed by HUD HQ and the list of questions sent to the Consortia Working Group members. Members have until August 30 COB to submit any additional ideas or questions.

Next call is scheduled for Thursday, September 5, 2002 at 3:30 pm eastern time.
