Related Information

The Operate phase of the System Development Methodology (SDM—below) assists you in managing the system's production release, its operation in its intended production environment, and establishing a framework for maintaining the system through its operational lifecycle.

This is a critical phase where many activities need to be coordinated, including:

  • training,
  • installation and conversion, and
  • retirement of predecessor systems.

In the SDM, these issues are described, and you'll find guidance in managing these activities.

You'll find

  • identification and explanations of key activities,
  • definitions of roles and responsibilities,
  • identification of required documents and processes for this phase, as well as the issues they should address.

By following the steps as outlined in this phase, you can minimize the extent and severity of problems associated with the production release.
