The Define System phase in the System Development Methodology (below) assists you in identifying and documenting your system's functional, security, data and performance requirements, and to identify and coordinate any hardware or infrastructure support needs with the appropriate office.

These activities are critical as the requirements provide a "blueprint" for what the developers will build during subsequent lifecycle phases.

In the Define System phase of the System Development Methodology, you'll find

  • an explanation of the key elements of the requirements definition process,
  • identification of and purpose for the required documents,
  • guidance regarding the key issues each document must address, and
  • roles and responsibilities.

By completing the Define System phase activities as presented in the System Development Methodology, you'll establish a solid basis for meeting the Program Office's/User's needs.
