The HUD Technical Reference Model (TRM) IT Modernization Standards Profile organizes and identifies HUD's technology standards. The key benefits of establishing standards are:

  • Reuse - allows HUD to share services and technologies across organizational and functional lines - provides pre-approved components
  • Simplification of Investment Decisions - provides pre-approved components
  • Improved Interoperability - enables greater interoperability across disparate applications, both internal and external
  • Improved Utilization of Resources - eliminates duplicative investments and allows agency to better focus the resource training programs
  • Accelerates System Implementation - provides an architecture from which components with well-defined functionality can be chosen to implement business functionality
