This initiative does not involve the collection of information.
Public Access Technologies was created as part of an overall management
reform strategy to reach out communities and citizens and offer
services in places they frequent. This initiative includes the nationwide
web-based kiosks which are located in shopping centers, malls, grocery
stores, and other public locations - allowing citizens access to
basic information, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - like ATM machines.
For citizens who need more detailed HUD information, or who would
like to conduct a business transaction with HUD, HUD Answer Machines,
a user-friendly workstation, have been designed for in-office public
use.

The Public Access Technologies initiative provides a method of
disseminating information to citizens about HUD's programs and contacts.
At the present time, investigations and preliminary discussions
are underway to determine if there is interest within the federal
government to partner on the kiosks.
