of Memphis is emerging as one of the great metropolitan research
universities in the United States, noted for drawing on the strengths
and challenges of the urban setting and region in which it is located
to address society's issues and needs. The University will host a
simulcast presentation of La Bohème open to the public on Sunday,
September 23, 2007 1:00 PM (CST) at the Harris Concert Hall (3775
Central Ave). Immediately following the simulcast, staff from the
School of Music and Memphis Opera will facilitate a discussion of
the performance and host a reception. The Rudi E. Scheidt School
of Music of the College of Communication and Fine Arts and the
Division of Public and Non Profit Administration in the School
of Urban Affairs and Public Policy are co-hosting this project. The
event is free.

U of M has formed a partnership with the following organizations
to host this project in Memphis, TN:
Lemoyne-Owen College (Historically Black College)
The Division of Fine Arts and Humanities will open the campus to
public housing residents and the public to host the "La Bohème Extravaganza"
in the Little Theater on Saturday, September 15, 2007 1:00PM
(CST). The Little Theater is located at 807 Walker Avenue.
University of Memphis Opera will present an educational program
that will feature a discussion on career opportunities in opera,
and the plot of La Bohème, which will be highlighted by a performance
of selections from the opera by U of M students and facility. The
event is free.

Opera Memphis will educate program participates about career
