The
San Diego Housing Commission
(SDHC) is an award-winning public agency that helps low-income families,
seniors, and people with disabilities afford housing in the City of
San Diego. The Juniper Learning Opportunity Center (JLOC) is
located on a Commission-owned housing site. JLOC provides tutoring,
job training, and career development services, computer labs, and
offer access to an array of community services with the assistance
of the Copley Family YWCA.
SDHC-JLOC
will host the HUD-WNO simulcast presentation of La Bohème for youth
from public housing at the Juniper Learning Opportunity Center Sunday,
September 23, 2007. This event is open only to public housing residents.

has formed partnerships with the following organizations to host
this project in San Diego:
Copley
Family YMCA
San
Diego Mesa College will open their campus and theater to children
that reside in public housing. Children from public housing will
tour the Mesa College Theater Department. This tour will conclude
with theater staff facilitating a session on back stage career opportunities
in opera and theater.
