When We Began

Administrative support services have been an integral requirement of the Department since its inception. Originally, we were comprised of three divisions. Today, we consist of four divisions with the addition of the Multimedia Division.   [Back to top]

What We Have Accomplished

Recent accomplishments include implementation or initiation of:

  • New HUD Childcare Center. Through the General Services Administration, a new childcare center was completed at HUD Headquarters. The new state-of-the-art facility accommodates 76 children, nearly twice as many children as the previous center, covering age groups ranging from infants to four year-olds. The center provides a safe and convenient environment for the children of HUD Headquarters employees and surrounding federal agencies. The facility was designed with an inviting entrance lobby, six age-appropriate classrooms, staff offices, warming kitchen, multiple direct exits, natural light, and infant programs. The new center is located at ground level on the southwest corner of the building.
  • Headquarters Space Consolidation Plan. Continue work with the General Service Administration (GSA) to prepare a five-year comprehensive plan to consolidate all Headquarters functions and operations in the most cost effective and efficient locations within close proximity of the Robert C. Weaver Federal Building, and to manage the relocation of HUD organizations from the Portals Building to the Potomac Center building.   [Back to top]

How We Operate

OAMS staff can be found working in just about every nook and cranny of the Headquarters Robert C. Weaver Federal Building; on the loading dock (shipping and receiving), in photography studios, in the sub-basement (direct distribution system for forms, handbooks, and notices), in the building mechanical rooms (electrical and telephone closets), on the roof (antennas and HVAC equipment), in the furniture warehouse, and in conventional office space. Our offices utilize the following systems:
