On Monday, June 4, U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Alphonso Jackson will kick off National Homeownership Month during a newsmaker luncheon and press conference at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. Homeownership Month events will take place throughout the country in June highlighting the importance of helping families buy homes they can afford to maintain for the long term. Secretary Jackson will discuss the importance of educating Americans about the homebuying process, ending predatory lending practices and ensuring the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) can be a safe, fair, and affordable alternative to exotic subprime mortgages.
