HUD Announces Michael R. Banks as New England Regional Administrator
BOSTON, Mass. – U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Scott Turner announced the appointment of Michael R. Banks as the Regional Administrator for the New England Region (Region I).
“Michael Banks has a strong record in public service and a deep commitment to the justice system,” said HUD Secretary Scott Turner. “His experience and dedication make him an exceptional addition to our team, and I look forward to working with him as we continue to deliver on HUD’s mission for the people of New England.”
Banks joins HUD with over 25 years of public service experience. Most recently, he oversaw field operations across HUD’s Region I offices. Prior to his federal service, Banks was an Assistant District Attorney for Middlesex County and a member of the Massachusetts State Police and Gaming Enforcement Unit. He also practiced civil law, with a focus on litigation and estate planning for families of first responders. Banks holds a Juris Doctor from New England Law Boston.

In this role, Banks will support Secretary Turner in expanding access to affordable housing, promoting community revitalization, and unlocking homeownership opportunities for Americans in rural, tribal, and urban communities. HUD Region I encompasses Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
