PRESERVING AMERICA...

*** Rappahannock Rapidan Regional Commission working with Rappahannock County and the Scrabble School Preservation Foundation to restore & transform former historic school building. Scrabble School, built in 1921 as a Rosenwald school for African American students, was abandoned in 1968 & is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It will be adaptively re-used as the County's senior center & will display materials telling the story of the school and community. Contact Terry Snead. *** Governor announces $500,000 in grants to Albemarle, Clark, Cumberland, Fauquier, Goochland, Isle of Wight, James City, Northampton, Rappa-hannock & Spotsylvania Counties, and City of VA Beach to preserve farmland through local Purchase of Development Rights ***
