SEAN M. MOSS NAMED HUD NEW YORK/NEW JERSEY REGIONAL DIRECTOR
New York - U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Alphonso Jackson today announced that Mr. Sean M. Moss has been named the Regional Director for the HUD New York/New Jersey region.
In this position, Mr. Moss will serve as HUD's liaison to mayors, city managers, elected representatives, state and local officials, congressional delegations, stakeholders and customers in New York and New Jersey. He will oversee the delivery of HUD programs and services to communities, and evaluate their efficiency and effectiveness. Mr. Moss is one of ten regional directors in the U.S.
"We have an outstanding manager and advocate in Sean Moss," said Secretary Jackson. "His expertise in finance and management will allow him to immediately contribute to the HUD Regional Office's role in community development and neighborhood revitalization."
Since 2001, Mr. Moss served as the Director of the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization and Minority Resource Center at the U. S. Department of Transportation (DOT) in Washington, D.C. He was the Department's senior advisor on procurement policy for small and minority businesses. Prior to joining DOT, Mr. Moss was the Director of Business Development at Empire State Development (ESD), where he was responsible for implementing programs that created and retained jobs within New York City's distressed communities. He served as Director of ESD's New York City Regional Office from 1996 to 1999.
Secretary Jackson welcomed Moss to the Department, saying: "Sean's past public service, leadership roles and personal private-sector business experience will be a great asset to us at HUD. We are very fortunate to have Sean on our team."
Before joining the public sector, Mr. Moss held a variety of positions within the securities industry. From 1995 to 1996, Mr. Moss was vice president at GRW Capital, where he sold fixed income securities to institutional investors in Washington, D.C. Previously, he worked at KHA Associates and Kidder Peabody & co. in Chicago.
Mr. Moss has a B.A. from Morehouse College in Atlanta and a M.B. A. from Indiana University. He is married with one child and lives in New York City.
