HUD staff recently partnered with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma and over 12 other agencies to coordinate the Oklahoma City Federal Building Food Drive. The drive helped those who struggle to feed their families on a daily basis.
About 1,000 lbs of food and $485 in contributions from federal building employees were collected. These donations will feed more than 4,176 Oklahoma families.

The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma is a private, nonprofit organization that acts as a link through which the food industry and community may donate food and other goods. The products are then distributed to more than 700 schools and charitable feeding programs in 53 central and western Oklahoma counties. In the last fiscal year, the Food Bank distributed 25 million pounds of food and products to help the charitable community effectively feed people in need. Since its inception in 1980, the Food Bank has distributed more than 295 million pounds of valued at $468 million wholesale.
The food banks across the Oklahoma and the United States are facing vast food shortages as many shelves are emptying faster than contributions can be received. This is in part due to the economy, job losses and the natural disasters that have plagued the region.
