Holy Trinity Community Development Corporation broke ground on
its first single family housing project in North Las Vegas. The
groundbreaking was also for the entry of Holy Trinity into the world
of community development. Holy Trinity CDC is an affiliate of Holy
Trinity African Methodist Episcopal Church. " Holy Trinity
is not only about providing spiritual guidance, but also caring
for the needs of the community". The church administers a primary
school. In addition, through its other entity; Richard Allen Community
Outreach, health education, financial and budgeting seminars are
sponsored.
Over the past year with guidance from the Las Vegas HUD Office,
Mr. Ronald Miles, Operations Specialist also working as a faith-based/community
liaison the Holy Trinity CDC was formed and received immediate financial
support from the City of North Las Vegas and Bank West. The City
of North Las Vegas is supporting the first phase of a nine (9) unit,
single family development with a HOME grant of $290,000. Bank West
is sponsoring construction and permanent financing. Also supporting
this development is Tech Start, a community based, not for profit
organization that reconditions computers and provides technical
assistance for computer usage has committed to donate computers
to each of the new homes. TechStart states that they are committed
to narrowing the digital divide for families of low/moderate income.
Mr. Kenneth J. LoBene, Nevada State Field Director commended Holy
Trinity AME and it's entities, and encourages the partnerships with
private, government, and not for profit groups.
