The National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO), an independent housing advocacy organization, has announced their 2004 Awards of Merit in Housing and Community Development. Twenty-three projects in New Jersey, administered by the housing authorities in Bayonne, Camden, Gloucester County, East Orange, Hackensack, Irvington, Long Branch, and Paterson were recognized with these prestigious awards.

For information on the recognized projects, visit NAHRO's awards website.

Many of the operations of these housing authorities are monitored and governed by HUD’s Office of Public and Indian Housing (PIH), a chief component of HUD’s overall goal of to ensuring safe, decent, and affordable housing for low and moderate income people across the country.
