The Nebraska Mortgage Association, in partnership with HUD’s Omaha Field Office, hosted a three-day workshop in Omaha on Basic Direct Endorsement Training, Beyond Basics, and Underwriting Appraisals. Around 350 FHA underwriters and appraisers in Nebraska and Western Iowa attended the August 2004 workshop. Staff from HUD’s Homeownership Center in Denver provided the principal training for the event.

HUD Field Office Director Stan Quy applauded the underwriting training, and noted the event gave the HUD staff an opportunity to promote programs such as Energy Efficient Mortgages and the American Dream Downpayment Initiative. Ms. Gina Jerauld, Chairperson of the Nebraska Mortgage Association Education Committee, said that workshop attendees praised the training package. She noted that attendees expressed their pleasure with the informative presentations on the new Total Scorecard initiative as well as the standard training information.
