HUD Omaha Office Director Stan Quy addresses members of the "Heart of Omaha".

Several local nonprofit and community development groups recently came together to recognize a joint collaborative known as the Heart of Omaha. A Mayoral proclamation of National Homeownership Month was signed, profiling HUD's CDBG, HOME, and housing counseling programs. The "Heart of Omaha was initially an effort by three nonprofit housing developers, Holy Name Housing Corporation, New Community Development Corporation, and Omaha Economic Development Corporation to attract new homeowners to their developments. The goals of the Heart of Omaha Campaign include:

  • Encourage moderate income families to consider investing in a new home currently under development by nonprofit organizations.
  • Educate the public about the positive values of these neighborhoods.
  • Involve neighborhood residents in redevelopment projects.
  • Increase neighborhood pride.
