Brian Harris, Executive Director, Martin Housing Authority, had a unique opportunity to speak to 13 students from Japan who visited the University of Tennessee at Martin campus to learn more about American culture. The specific concentration of their study is to learn about the American housing industry, economics and regional development. Japan has unusual housing challenges with a growing population and limited government programs to meet the needs of the less fortunate. Full story…

[Photo: HOPE for homeowners] HOPE for Homeowners
The Bush Administration unveiled on October 1 additional mortgage assistance for homeowners at risk of foreclosure. The HOPE for Homeowners program will refinance mortgages for borrowers who are having difficulty making their payments, but can afford a new loan insured by HUD’s Federal Housing Administration (FHA).
