Tedford Housing Opens Doors For Homeless

"Too many hands spoil the soup" doesn't apply to all things. It certainly doesn't apply to Everett Apartments in downtown Brunswick, ME. After months of hard work, Tedford Housing recently celebrated the opening of Everett Apartments, along with the "many hands" that made it all possible. The complex consists of eight single room occupancy (SRO) units.

HUD's Supportive Housing program provided funding, along with MaineHousing, Hancock Lumber and Tedford Housing's Homelessness to Hope Campaign. John A. Cunningham, Esq. provided all the legal work pro bono, the Brunswick Housing Authority allocated six Housing Choice Vouchers and L.L. Bean and its employees furnished the units.

Tedford Housing provides non-clinical case management services to its residents, including day-to-day life skills assistance and referrals to other appropriate services such as job training and addiction treatment. Sweetser provides clinical services as needed. Funds for services come from MaineCare, HUD and private donations.

Visit HUD's website to learn more about homeless programs and how you can help.
