The Building Materials Exchange is a 501(c)(3) Not-for-Profit Organization
supported by its own revenue, grants from community agencies, and
donations of materials from corporations and individuals. The Exchange
recycles discarded building materials to help Maine families preserve
and restore their homes.
Membership Guidelines
Membership for the Exchange is based upon income guidelines defined
by 80% of Median Income in Cumberland County.

Annual membership dues are $10.00 and provide members with a substantial
discount from non-member pricing. Items such as lumber, roofing
material, insulation, exterior doors, storm doors and windows, heating
products, egress and smaller windows, and other items determined
"products of need" are reserved for member clients only.
All materials are priced according to condition and quality. The
typical pricing structure is 40-60% off retail for nonmembers and
65-80% off retail for members. Non-profit organizations are also
eligible for membership.
