A recent expansion of the Making Home Affordable program now allows borrowers who are current but up to 125 percent underwater on their mortgage, and have mortgages currently owned or guaranteed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to refinance those loans according to the terms of the Home Affordable Refinance program established earlier this year.

Disaster Assistance for West Virginia Storm Victims - Foreclosure protection offered to displaced families in Mingo and Wyoming Counties.  HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan announced on 5/18 that HUD will speed federal disaster assistance to two storm-ravaged counties in West Virginia and provide support to homeowners and low-income renters forced from their homes following ongoing severe storms, flooding, mudslides, and landslides.
