About the Local Program Office:
The Chicago FHEO Center is located in Chicago Regional Office of FHEO, Region V; the Chicago Center is responsible for administering and enforcing the Department's programs in Illinois in connection with equal opportunity and civil rights, which includes Title VIII (Fair Housing Act), Title VI, Section 109 of the Housing and Community Development Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, Section 3 of the Housing and Urban Development Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination Act, and relevant Executive Orders. The FHEO Region V Director, Barbara M. Knox, has administrative and management responsibility over all FHEO centers and field offices in Region V. The function of the Chicago FHEO Center is to provide a full range of FHEO services: complaint investigation, program review, program compliance, and program monitoring bearing on fair housing issues dealing with advocacy, research, and training.

Service Area (jurisdictions)

The Region V Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity is located in Chicago, Illinois and has jurisdiction over Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. In Region V, there are three (3) FHEO Centers each having oversight authority over one or more field offices within an adjoining state.
