helps build new supportive housing complex offering various
services for low-income mentally ill adults to include:
housing, housing counseling, case management and other
types of assistance. |

Later this month, Heritage Behavioral Health Center in Decatur,
IL will hold a Ribbon-cutting and Housewarming Ceremony for the
newly constructed Heritage Grove apartment complex. This supportive
independent living facility is a partnership between the non-profit
mental health center, the City of Decatur, and HUD, and will be
the first new housing project of its kind in the City. The 18-unit
complex is located in the inner city and consists of 17 1-bedroom
units for very low-income adults with mental illness, and one 2-bedroom
unit for a resident manager. The clients will receive supportive
services including counseling, case management, and other assistance
from Heritage Behavioral Health Center. The complex includes a common/social
room, laundry facilities, and a gazebo on the landscaped grounds.
Funding for this project includes: $1,256,800 in HUD
811 supportive housing funds; $50,000 in HOME
funds from the City of Decatur; and $400,000 from the Illinois
Housing Development Authority.
Plans are already underway for two more supportive housing projects,
"Heritage Fields", which would include another supported independent
living complex and a group home.
