Renovate, Repair and Painting Rule Outreach to Idaho

Outreach Booth at Idaho Green Expo

Boise ID Green Expo, May 17-18, Bob Angeline and Laurie Fay gave information on to 320 visitors, Renovate Right, Contractors-Lead Safety During Renovation (tri-fold), Parent's Guide to Lead in Your Home, Lead Paint Safety, and Testing Your Home for Lead were among the pamphlets handed out

Outreach Booth at Idaho Fall Home and Remodel Expo
October 24, 25 & 26, 2008

Russell Clausen and Laurie Fay manned a booth at the Fall Home and Remodel Expo held at Expo Idaho in Garden City, Idaho, on October 24 and 25, 2008. Renovate Right, Contractors-Lead Safety During Renovation (tri-fold), Parent's Guide to Lead in Your Home, Lead Paint Safety, and Testing Your Home for Lead were among the pamphlets handed out. There were 134 contacts made during the expo.

Early years 2008
November 18 & 19, 2008

Laurie Fay and Kristi Waddell manned an outreach table at the Early Years Conference, November 18 and 19, 2008. The conference was held in the Student Union Building at Boise State University and was attended by professionals who worked with children 0-5 years of age. Lauren Ertz, a Medical Program Specialist with Idaho Health and Welfare, also attended our table. Laurie gave out Renovate Right, Kristi gave out Protecting Children's Health from Asbestos Exposure in Schools and Lauren provided information on the blood lead testing requirements for Medicaid and a list of where blood lead testing can be done in the State of Idaho. There were 174 contacts made during the conference.

Mailings:

August, 2008- Contractors-Lead Safety During Renovation (tri-fold) was mailed to 780 contractors in Boise.

October, 2008- Packets of 100 of Contractors-Lead Safety During Renovation (tri-fold) were mailed to members of IHHN for distribution in their communities

Last week EPA completed a mailing of "Renovate Right" wrapped inside the Contractor's trifold to 354 carpenters and 539 painters in Idaho using a list from Dunn and Bradstreet pulls.

RRP Training Sessions

Russell Clausen and Laurie Fay have given RRP power point presentations to two affected professional organizations: the National Association of The Remodeling Industry (NARI) of Idaho and the Idaho Rental Owners and Managers Association (IROMA). The Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Idaho has been contacted to schedule a training at one of this year's meetings.

Regulated Public Counters

Two important public counters in Idaho have been contacted and are distributing both Renovate Right, Contractors-Lead Safety During Renovation (tri-fold) to the regulated community:

    Tana Cory, Bureau Chief of Occupational Licensing- Stae of Idaho. Registers over 19,000 contractors throughout Idaho who are doing contruction work that exceeds $2,000 per contract. This includes renovation, repair, and remodeling.

    Mike Lewis, Inspector-Twin Falls County, TwinFalls , Idaho. Permits construction, renovation, and remodeling for the county. Reaches 1000's of contractors and homeowners at all cost levels.

EPA has been in attendance at all IHHN meetings to help in any way possible to get the word out to the regulated community of Idaho.
