On Tuesday, February 5th, sixty-three HUD staff was ceremoniously rewarded at the Los Angeles Field Office for their unselfish efforts during last October’s Federal disaster declaration.


Federal Disaster Assistance for California
The President declared a major disaster exists in the State of California.  He ordered Federal aid to supplement State and local response efforts in the area struck by wildfires beginning on November 13, 2008, and continuing.

The Bush Administration unveiled on October 1 additional mortgage assistance for homeowners at risk of foreclosure. The HOPE for Homeowners program will refinance mortgages for borrowers who are having difficulty making their payments, but can afford a new loan insured by HUD’s Federal Housing Administration (FHA).
