Pine Bluff is celebrating the opening of a beautiful new project
that will foster change in the surrounding neighborhood and provide
the elderly with decent, safe and affordable housing.
Joshua Manor owes its existence to the vision of Bishop-Elect Esau
Watson and Lady Valeria Watson of Greater Fellowship Ministries.
The dynamic partnership between HUD and Greater Fellowship Ministries,
a new faith-based applicant, made this a reality when Greater Fellowship
Ministries received a capital advance grant in 2002.
Soon to be home to twenty elderly residents, Joshua Manor is an
example of neighbors working together to enrich the community and
transform the neighborhood. The facility is only one of several
projects planned by Greater Fellowship.
With improved technology, enhanced landscaping techniques, and
attention to the local environment, Joshua Manor serves as a model
of HUD's vision for improving the lives of our citizens. The project,
which cost about $1.1million to build, was financed through HUD's
supportive housing for the elderly grant program funds. HUD will
also provide $48,400 in project rental assistance allowing the development
to be affordable for the elderly.
For many of the future residents, Joshua Manor will not only be
home, but an expression of independence and well-being that will
enable them to improve the quality of their lives. Together HUD
and community partners such as Greater Fellowship Ministries are
making a difference!
