HUD's Office of Inspector General (OIG) is working hard to ensure that evacuees of Hurricane Katrina do not become victims of fraud as they seek HUD assistance.
The OIG is actively working to prevent and eliminate fraud as evacuees receive housing assistance, mortgage financing or participate in other HUD-funded programs.
If Hurricane Katrina evacuees encounter fraud they should report it directly to HUD's Office of Inspector General:
