The goal of Single Family Servicing is to work with FHA homeowners and their lenders to avoid foreclosure. Single Family staff also provides direction and training to mortgage lenders, servicers, and Housing Counseling Agencies, who are then better able to assist homeowners.

Borrowers, Lenders, and third parties with authorization (Title Companies; Attorneys etc.) may create accounts to request and receive their documentation online, upload documents and other activities, through the SMART Integrated Portal.

HUD FHA Self Service Portal for Home Equity Conversion Mortgage Borrowers

The HUD FHA Self Service Portal (SSP) makes it easy for Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) borrowers to submit annual compliance documents, which include proof of paid property taxes, annual occupancy certification forms, and property insurance declaration documents. HECM Borrowers may also request a monthly statement, a payoff statement, funds from their line of credit (if applicable), or submit a third-party authorization form.

*Note: the HUD FHA SSP is currently only available to HECM borrowers. Other parties may continue to submit documents on behalf of borrowers via email to answers@hud.gov.
