Neighborhood Organization Checklist |
|
See if you can answer "yes" to all of these questions about your neighborhood organization. If you can, you're on the road to success! If not, maybe you and your group can think about ways to improve.
- Have you contacted your local government to seek assistance?
- Are your neighbors using their personal contacts to help the group?
- Have you contacted similar neighborhood groups to find out what they're doing to address common issues?
- Are you continuing to recruit more neighbors for your group?
- Are you spreading around the assignments so that everyone has an active role?
- Are you communicating with neighbors in a variety of ways (e.g. using flyers, newsletters, community newspapers, bulletin boards, telephone calls, and personal contact)?
- Do you have officers, committees, and written procedures?
- Do you make decisions as a group, through voting or consensus-building?
- Do you socialize as a group?
- Do the members of your group feel good about the experience?
